Arrival:
-All students must be dropped off at the Early Childhood Center doors by 8:15 am. If you arrive any later you will have to go to the office and your child will be marked tardy.
-On Wednesday mornings Pre-k participates in all school Mass, so it is important to be on time!
-If your child will be absent or leaving early it is important to e-mail Ms. Allen: [email protected] and the school office: [email protected]
Behavior:
At St. Charles our policy is the traffic light system (red light, yellow light, green light). The goal is for each child to keep a green light throughout the school day, and make good/positive choices. Each
child is responsible for having a folder where a behavior calendar is kept and colored each day. This is for families to check each night and initial, which plays an important part in communication. Any student on red for the day will receive a slip stating why, which is to be signed and returned on the next school day.
Curriculum:
-Developing social skills
-Religion
-Calendar/circle time
-Letter of the week (Letter People)
-Upper case/lower case letter identification
-Writing name (first letter as upper case only)
- Shape/color identification
- Working with numbers 0-20 (built up throughout the year)
-Basic math concepts (patterns, comparing numbers, graphing, simple addition and subtraction).
-Basic Science and Social Studies concepts
+ Each day students learn through centers, which can provided a hands on experience while working in small groups with a teacher or independent groups.
+ Students receive report cards four times throughout the school year
Birthday treat and snack policy:
This year due to allergies snacks in the Preschool/Pre-k classroom must be milk, egg, peanut, and tree nut free! Please follow the special note sent home at the begging of the school year in rearguards to appropriate snacks to provide. You can also find a copy of the note below. Birthday's are special, and allowed to be celebrated within the classroom, so you are asked to stick to this snack policy. If you wish to bring in fruit or just a goody bag filled with special birthday prizes that is also suggested. Please e-mail me a few days prior to your child's birthday to let me know your plans. Birthday celebration snacks must be ready and present at our snack time which is 9:30 am.

Dismissal: Students are dismissed out the Early Childhood Center doors at 3:15 pm. Children are to wait on the green bench outside until the person picking them up is present. This person must be on their emergency contact sheet. It is encouraged to use the pick-up line, where an aide or safety can walk your child to their car and help them get in as well. Hang tags are distributed to families with their last name visible to make this process smooth. Note that our school does provide AM and PM latchkey. Other helpful information: -Both Preschool and Pre-k have afternoon rest and are expected to have a rest time bag (reusable grocery bags work best, but not too large due to space in cubbies)! -Each child must keep spare clothes in their back packs, in a gallon zip lock bag- this is in case of any accidents. Please change the clothes with every season. -Weekly newsletters are sent out by the teacher every week with important curriculum items and notes. -Each month every student has the opportunity to participate in a service project (can food drive, adopt a family, etc.) If all are completed in each quarter your child is rewarded a pajama day in Preschool/Pre-k. -All volunteers for field trips and classroom projects must have attend the Protecting God's Children Workshop and complete a background check (field trip). -Our schools "Communicator" contains very important information that goes home with the oldest child ever Tuesday (Preschool) and Wednesday (Pre-k). It is to be returned the next school day. You will find lunch orders, and important notes in this envelope. The actual newsletter is sent out electronically. -We have classroom parties for each major holiday. These are planned by parent volunteers. |
